If your vision has become blurry, cloudy or dim, or things you see are not as bright or colorful as they used to be, a cataract may have developed in one or both of your eyes. Many people say that their vision with cataracts is similar to looking through a dirty car windshield.
Glaucoma can cause blindness if it is left untreated. Only about half of the estimated three million Americans who have glaucoma are even aware that they have the condition. When glaucoma develops, patients usually don’t have any early symptoms as the disease progresses slowly. In this way, glaucoma can steal your sight very gradually. Fortunately, early detection and treatment with glaucoma eyedrops, glaucoma lasers or both can help preserve your vision.
An Ophthalmologist diagnoses and treats all eye diseases, performs eye surgery and lasers and prescribes eyeglasses and contact lenses to correct vision problems. Dr. Berke conducts extensive scientific research on the causes and cures for eye diseases and vision disorders, and has been teaching Ophthalmologists since 1986.

Joy bells ring when I relive my recent cataract experience, thanks to you. Some physicians have warm and pleasant personalities. Some are admirably skilled at what they do, but cold cucumbers toward their clients. You are a combination of seemingly super-human skill, efficient workmanship, and a compassionate, concerned attitude toward your clients. Please never change or lose your steam. Thank you for restoring my eyesight.–Jim, Patient
No pain, scratchiness or discomfort of any sort as a result of the exceptionally successful surgery on my right eye. I can’t wait to do the left.–J.P., Patient
